- The 80s marked the arrival of a new generation of Japanese designers. It allows to young fashion designers to get a starting place. Kenzo Takada and Issey Miyake took off in 1999. The garments are more sober and less eccentric.
- Yohji Yamamoto was born in Tokyo in 1943. He is graduated from the prestigious Keio University and the Bunka Fashion College. He began in 1970. Two years later he created his own brand under the name of Y’s and presents his first collection in Tokyo in 1977. His style is known worldwide after his fashion show Spring / Summer 83 in Paris. He was the only Japanese designer. In the heart of his work : the matter. It such dominates that colors are most missing. Black’s enough. Matter over all !
- It’s easier to destroy codes if we never taught them. Rei Kawakubo. She’s the creator of Comme Des Garçons. She thinks the clothing like an item, a sculpture.. All of her work is single and inspired.
